Early Childhood Development: Why the First Years Matter
The first years of life shape a child's ability to learn, grow, and succeed in the future. PAIPI works in communities where multidimensional poverty remains a significant challenge, helping families strengthen nutrition, early childhood development, and caregiving practices from pregnancy through the earliest years of life.
Today, the program serves more than 1,200 children across 18 communitiesin southern Honduras.
Through sustained support and community engagement, child malnutrition among children under two has declined from 14.7% to 4.9%.
Our goal
Maintain child malnutrition among children under two years of age below 5% through 2029. By continuing to invest in nutrition, early stimulation, and family support, we can help more children reach their full potential.
Help us achieve our goal and improve the living conditions of highly vulnerable children.
Your contribution helps to directly fund support in nutrition, early stimulation and family support during the most important years for child development.
The first years of life represent the most critical window for cognitive, emotional, and physical development.
When access to specialized care and early stimulation is limited, children can fall behind before they even begin school.
PAIPI works alongside families, caregivers, and communities to provide the support children need during these foundational years.
Our 2025 Impact in Nutrition and Early Childhood Development
Good nutrition during early childhood helps build the foundation for lifelong learning, health, and well-being. Through nutrition education, growth monitoring, and family support, the program helps families establish habits that contribute to healthier child development over time.
