Living in poverty is about more than income. Many families in southern Honduras face daily challenges related to access to clean water, safe sanitation, adequate housing, and healthy living conditions.
The Healthy Families Program addresses these barriers through practical, community-based solutions that improve health, safety, and overall quality of life.
Actualmente, el programa beneficia a más de 2,700 hogares y más de 9,700 personas en comunidades de los departamentos de Choluteca y Valle.
Our goal
Help more families gain access to the basic conditions needed for healthy, dignified, and sustainable lives while contributing to the reduction of multidimensional poverty throughout the region.
How Education Helps Reduce Multidimensional Poverty
The Multidimensional Poverty Index recognizes that poverty extends beyond income alone.
The Healthy Families Program directly addresses several of the barriers that affect rural households by improving access to essential services and healthier living conditions. Our interventions include:
- Safe water access
- Improved sanitation
- Healthier housing conditions
- Family food production
- Health and hygiene education
- Disease prevention and nutrition awareness
Together, these efforts help families build healthier futures and greater resilience.
